We know council and school members are working really hard at the moment, and have been throughout the pandemic. It continues to be a challenging time, but you continue to turn up and make a difference to the lives of people and communities in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Your pay is negotiated at a national level, and the national employers have returned an offer of just 1.75% for all your hard work. Dedication and good will is the foundation of your work, but with inflation at over 4% (consumer price index), this real terms pay cut does not recognise what you do.
That’s why UNISON have moved to an industrial action ballot, and your ballot paper will arrive in the post from 1 December. We are recommending you vote YES to industrial action. Enough is a enough. You deserve better.
Your UNISON BCP Branch does know and value what you do. We are coming to your workplace to have a chat with you about the pay campaign.
We have asked your employer if we can attend, so if you can spare 5 minutes, please come and have a chat and a hot drink from our campaign van in the car park.
Our events page tells you about our visits over the next two weeks.
It’s really important members like you take part in this postal only ballot, and return your ballot papers as soon as you can.
Voting YES sends a strong message to the national employers that they need to come back to us with an improved offer, as well as showing your strength of feeling.
Can you have a chat with your colleagues? Take a photo of your ballot going to the postbox? Follow our social media and website and share your own ballot journey with us.
To take action, we all need to take part.
Find out more and make sure you come and say hello if we are visiting your workplace.
